Art Exploration Class

In Art Explorations I teach the foundations of drawing. I begin the semester by having students use graphite (pencil) so they can easily erase and because they are already used to using a pencil to write. I start with gesture drawings and the basics of a composition. I also teach about the elements and principles of art while using charcoal and ink. Then I teach how to mix color with crayons, colored pencils, markers and pastels. I end my class with a mixed media piece where students choose what materials and techniques they want to use.
